Abby's First Birthday

Image
In four more days Baby Abby is going to be 2 years old. I was going to type "I can't believe it!" but yes, I can believe it. It's been an eventful two years. I've seen her grow so much during this time. In the first 12 months of her life she's gone from helpless newborn to a rambunctious baby. She learned to roll over, sit, use her hands, eat, and stand up etc. The second year she learned to walk and talk as she became her own little person. 12 though 24 months was a transition from baby to toddler. She's a toddler with SO much personality. I tell Gilbert, she's about 2ft but personality like 6'2. She has likes and dislikes. She expresses emotions with feelings in a whole new way. An infant may cry when they are cold or hungry or tired. Abby now tells us she's hungry, asks for certain foods, says no, sticks her bottom lip out when we scold her. Of course with all these new emotions comes the inability to properly act on them or express them an

pumpkins and stuff

Abby & her pumpkin AKA Fall pumpkin patch toddler #OOTD A church several blocks away from us had a famers market pumpkin patch. It wasn't anything extravagant but the perfect size for a quick pumpkin pick out for the girls first time. There was no entrance fee and the pumpkins weren't overpriced. Cheap & free, just how I like my pumpkin patches :P I was really feeling these grey and white pumpkins but I needed something the kids could paint and one Gil and I could carve. We still aren't sure what to carve on our pumpkin but we plan on doing it a few nights before Halloween so it doesn't prematurely rot. I think I read somewhere you can give your pumpkin a "bleach bath" to help it last longer but I might be making that up. I'll have to look it up again. Really quick, I wanted to show you the donut pumpkin I painted. I'm digging the way it came out. I saw some pictures of pumpkins done up in donut style and thought yep that's so me! I

Disney Babe~

I'm not like a regular mom, I'm a Disney mom  There has been a lot of Disney collaborations/collections lately that are giving me serious heart eyes. The Disney Store recently dropped the Oh My Disney 90's inspired collection and I am here for it! I grew up on Disney and I can thank my mother for that. We owned every predominant Disney movie on VHS. Even then, we were lucky to own some of the lesser known films. I think with the exception of the really discreet Disney movies [ Songs of the South, both Fantasias' and the Sleepy Hollow one]  we had every one you could think of. My sister and I had shelves that bordered our childhood bedroom that our VHS sat neatly on. My mother was so particular about them that even to this day they are in practically like-new condition. She just keeps them stored in tote boxes now. You bet your ass I am going bananas over these VHS lookalike clutches: *breathes heavily* Now to convince my husband this is a wise investment. he

She fell from a star

...she fell very far. And Kansas she says is the name of the star! I LOVE The Wizard of Oz . Its such a timeless film. Such as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory , and not the cringey Johnny Depp remake. I don't care if they are "slow" or "boring" to some. I will always enjoy them and have already shown them both to Aviva. She likes them enough as well :) Judy Garland is a doll. Its funny that she's suppose to play a young child. Im not exactly sure but Dorothy's character is about 12 if not younger? I read Judy Garland had to bind her chest down so she wouldn't look too womanly. I've read many interesting things about the making of The Wizard of Oz . You'll have to do some research, I promise you won't be disappointed. Reading about all the woes on set and hassle that went into making the movie has only added to my attraction for the movie. Not to mention Dark Side of the Rainbow .  If you don't know what that is, its basic
